Wrongfull termanation! :|
I'm gonna show you a letter..I wrote to my HR department i was currently fired from a casino job..Im prety upset about it..I wanna know what i can have done any suggestions?
Dear Sir / Madam,
I am writing you this letter in hopes of finding a positive resolution to an occurrence that took place on April 19, 2007 while I was employed at Gusher’s Deli at Sand Springs Osage Million Dollar Elm.
During my shift on April 18th, 2007, I had waited on a customer and when I rang them out on the cash register, the customer told me to “keep the change”, approximately $2 or $3 .Not thinking anything of it, I put the change in my pocket and continued on as usual.
Make no mistake about it, I know that the employees share tips, but they are normally put into the tip jar by the customer. This money from this customer was not placed in the jar, the customer told me to keep it. Honestly, I never gave it any thought as possibly being against the employee rules, and believe me I would never have risked my job and my reputation for anything, much less a few dollars!
The next day I was called into a meeting, where I was told to sign papers and my employment was terminated on the spot, effective immediately, with no second chance. I could possibly have defended my actions a little better, but under the circumstances I was both shocked and appalled that I was being fired, not to mention that I was more than a little intimidated by being in the room with two of my supervisors, a security guard, and a security employee from surveillance.
I was a new employee and this was all a misunderstanding and I believe it could have been easily straightened out had I been told what I did was not allowed and not correct procedure.
At orientation I was not told I could not accept tips in this manner.
In the employee hand book ( Guide to Success ) it states:
Accepting Gifts and Favors
All employees are expected to conduct their
activities so as to avoid loss or embarrassment
to the company, it is inappropriate for any employee
to accept substantial gifts or favors from guests, suppliers
Or other persons doing business with or attempting to do
business with the company. “Substantial” in this case
refers to gifts or favors valued at One-Hundred Dollars
($100.) or more. Acceptance of such gifts could place
the employee in a “conflict of interest” situation which
may result in disciplinary action up to and including
termination.
The proceeding is not intended to prohibit the acceptance
of normal gratuities ( tips/ tokens ). However, “hustling” or
suggesting or demanding that fatuity or tip/token is
required or expected for any service is strictly prohibited
and may result in termination of employment.
Security employees and employees who hold the position
of a supervisor or above are prohibited from accepting
gratuities.
It was a pleasure working for Sand Springs Osage Million Dollar Elm and I would like the opportunity to continue to work for the company.
I am asking for another chance to do so. I have three children to provide for
and when I got this job I was thrilled, because I knew they were going to be able
to have the things they need because I intend to work hard for it.
I didn’t go through the whole process it takes to work there and not to mention the costs
gaming license, just to lose my job because of a misunderstanding. I feel my employment was unjustly terminated and the fact that I was a new employee still learning the procedures was ignored or overlooked .
Nobody is perfect, I do make mistakes, but I am an honest person and I work hard and
I believe I deserve a second chance, and I am coming to you asking for a second chance and I hope that you will agree and let me have this job again. I can promise you that I will not make the same mistake again.
I appreciate your time spent in reviewing my letter and case and I look forward to hearing back from you soon.
The ___ day of ______________, ______.
Thank you,
