Question Wrong date on lease. Please help

I signed a lease for what i thought was August 31st 2006 to May 31st 2007, I have a 10 month old daughter now and live in a one bedroom apartment and also have two stepdaughters who stay here on the weekends. This place has become to small for all of us. As of right now we have 72 days left before our lease ends but we would love to get out early without having to pay the following months rent for breaking the agreement early, we have always paid our rent on time. Me and my husband just noticed that the date on the signed lease states us here until May 31st 2006 . Does this typo allow us to leave early?

You may want to check out your state's renter's rights. You may also want to speak with your landlord.

Cool Wrong date on lease..still need help

I am most definetly going to speak with my landlord, however i want to know if the typo holds any bearing on the conditions of the lease. If the lease is void i will kindly give my landlord 30 days notice to find another renter, however if it isnt void because the terms were clear when signing I wont mention anything, i would like to know what im talking about.

It depends. Some courts will read the contract as it literally reads, others will impose a meaning.
