My husband is terminally ill, it is progressing rapidly. His daughter lives in another state, she needs her name to appear on a HEPA form for her work to release her to take FML, the doctors office insists that my husband sign this form in their presence. He is unable to leave the house to do this. They will not accept a noterized form. In these times she certainly cannot jepordize her job yet this is preventing her from spending time with her dying father. Is there any recourse?

Have you browsed through the information in LawInfo's Free Legal Resource Center to learn more about your issue yet? See: http://www.lawinfo.com/consumer.html and http://resources.lawinfo.com/en/index.html. You can certainly try to speak to a lawyer to determine what legal options may be available. In the meantime, you may be able to learn more on your own. Search the "Free Legal Resources" tab, or browse the Consumer Resources. Good luck.

I suggest you try writing that question again. It really makes no sense and is impossible to even try to answer. Don't assume that we know who "her" and "his" are, don't use abbreviations and explain why the doctors are involved? Are they the daughter's employers or the fathers treating physicians? I suspect there is a miscommunication somewhere and things aren't as bad as you make it seem...a notarized signature is good for the most important legal documents, I don't understand why anyone would have a rule that a very sick person has to come in their office to sign something. Maybe if we had a better version of the facts you could get some help. Good luck!
