My son, who is over 21, has his live in girlfriend, who is over 21, wanting to give their unborn baby up for adoption. My son wants the baby, but she doesn't and this is leading to a possible break up. They live in Arizona, but she has family back in Illinois. What legal rights does my son have to claim the child if she doesn't want it? Also, what actions can he take to assure that he gets to keep and raise his child?

Since your son didn't marry her, then legally he is nobody to the baby and he will have to establish himself as the legal father before he can exercise any rights.

He needs to both register himself as a putative father (IMMEDIATELY), and then he'll need to bring a paternity suit in court once the child is born.
