Default Unauthorized car repair and credit card charges

Hello, about a month ago I took my 65 mustang to a shop to have some repairs done on it. I had made a list of what I wanted done. After a few days the owner of the shop called and told me that they had found other, more important things that needed repaired. He gave me a rough estimate over the phone and I agreed for the work to be done. I also authorized him to charge my credit card for a $1000 deposit. I told him not to do the repairs that I had on my list and that I would take care of those later. After about a week he called me again and told me of some other things discovered that needed repaired and I agreed. He said he needed another $1000 and I authorized that. About 2 weeks went by and I didn't hear from him and so I called to find out when my car would be ready. He said in a couple days. When I went online to check my credit card statement I discovered that he charged my credit card for $1000, $2500, and $ 3500, all on different days. The only charges that I authorized were first $1000. The second charge was supposed to be $1000 and he charged $2500. I have also learned that there has been additional repairs done on my car that I didn't authorize. I am not sure what to do about this. I haven't got my car yet. I am afraid of additional charges when I go to pick it up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I can understand this is a frustrating situation for you. I suggest you contact an attorney to determine your options for disputing the charges, including whether or not you can dispute the charge with the credit card company as an interim solution while you figure it out with the repair shop. You can find an attorney through the locator service on LawInfo's home page at: http://www.lawinfo.com/. Good luck.

I think you should better to face him and get your car immediately.. Find another repairer if he always charging you and doing things that you haven't authorized. It's better to find another repairer.
