Default Theft by conversion

Has anyone heard of or had any experiance with a Theft by Conversion senario and is it a legal obtion in the state of Texas? My understanding is that this is when you have a rental or lease situation for example with an auto, funiture, etc.. where contracts (lease agreement or rental agreement) are signed giving an individual permission to use the property but they disappear along with the property, this action can be filed... Any advise or personal experiance with this situation would be appreciated...

Theft by conversion would be a crime that would have to be filed by the district attorney. If you are in this situation, you may want to contact the police.

Default "Go to the police"

Hi, I was wondering how your case was going. You may find some similarity in my story.

I owed no money, had caused no problems. But she (the landlord) had once told me that her boyfriend had said that he would not support her if someone else was living in the house. So she got rid of me. She threw me out in the middle of the night on a Sunday night, one week before Christmas, by threat of violence and then kept and sold all of my belongings.

I, too, was told "go to the police," who then told me, "It's a civil matter. We can't help."

Now I'm wondering whether I can seek criminal action.

I'd be very interested to hear how things went for you. I sincerely hope you got justice.

Please send me a message through this site, then I'll give you my regular e-mail address.

Wishing you all best,
pttp

P.S. I'm going to be working toward getting some laws changed in Texas. Maybe you'd like to offer your input.
