Default Tentant Rights Regarding Breaking Lease

I am looking for any advice that may be out there. My wife and I broke our lease about 2 months ago. We had a couple of reasons and wanted to see if we have a leg to stand on for one of them. The first one was that my company transfered me to a new location ok that is a no brainer. The second one I really question. We had a very large bay window that overlooked our living room that was directly above our couch. The window cracked from incorrectly building it and then spidered in multiple areas. We informed the property managment company who informed the owners. They said this window was going to be fixed several times over and over and over. We can count at least 25 phone calls all documented and at least 8 confirmations that the window was going to be fixed but never was. We considered this a dangerous threat. Now they are keeping our deposit last month and want so sue us. Any ideas on this anybody. Do we have a case against them for back rent from the time of the break. The lease does say resonable time to fix. thanks

Default Response

It may be wise to have your specific factual situation analyzed by an attorney in your jurisdiction. And you should have this done IMMEDIATELY so that you don't lose important rights. Many lawyers offer a free or low-cost initial consultation just for the purpose of determining whether they can help you. Don't be afraid to contact them. Our Lead Counsel Panels at http://www.lawinfo.com/law/ are a great way to find a lawyer in your area on the internet. Best of luck!

Thumbs up Read your Lease;

Some leases will let you out of it if you have a job transfer that's out of state but the window won't let you out of a lease so read your lease and see if theirs a clause about job transfer's,good luck.
