Exclamation Student Loans

My great aunt cosigned a loan with my brother in law. After school he skipped out, has not contacted anyone and has not made one payment towards the student loan. MY aunt has been making the payments for fear of the default hurting her credit. This is a huge financial hardship on her. Is there any way that she could sue my brother in law, have his wages garnished or something? Also since he is not taking responsibility for the loan would it hurt her or be in her best interest to see about refinancing the loan so then at least she would have lower payments?
Thank you,
Marilyn

I can understand this is a frustrating situation for you. I suggest your aunt speak to an attorney regarding what legal options may be available. You can find more information about an attorney through the locator service on LawInfo's home page at: http://www.lawinfo.com/. Some do offer free consultations. Good luck.
