Here is my situation: My mom've just come to U.S. last month. She is 62 years old and will stay home take care of my kids. I am 32 years old married and have been here 10 years. My question is: Is it a good idea to pay her and creat and and income for her so she can do her own income tax and get her SSI later? Or keep her under my "dependent" in my income tax return? If I choose the second option can she recieve any SSI/benefit when she is 65 years old. Any insights are very much appreciated. Lisa.
