I no longer live in the country, however I am renting my home in California to a friend. Two days ago a process server come to the house where I used to live and wanted to serve me papers. My friend did her best to ask what it was about, but he would not answer.
He just wanted to know when I would be home. She explained that I moved to another country and wouldn't be back. He did not leave the papers.
I have no idea why I would be served and am very concerned, especially because I live in another country at this point.
Is there anything I can do to find out what this is about? I have not been able to sleep for two days.

If you are being served then most likely it is in the county where you once resided. Send someone to your county courthouse and on the computer look for your full name. If a case has been filed it will be listed.
