Show Cause for Contempt
I have a few questions if you could help me with would be wonderful. My daughters father and I have a show cause for contempt hearing on Thursday August 19 2010. The hearing is reguarding back support from my daughters father. Now we currently live with him and I am on public assistance. A friend of mine told me to file for an ABATEMENT? What is that hand how do I go about something like that? He is a great father just like everyone else fell upon hard times and I couldnt see him going to jail.. What are my options?

Did YOU file the motion or did the state file the motion?

Have you browsed through the information in LawInfo's Free Legal Resource Center to learn more about your issue yet? See: http://www.lawinfo.com/consumer.html and http://resources.lawinfo.com/en/index.html. You can certainly try to speak to a lawyer to determine what legal options may be available. In the meantime, you may be able to learn more on your own. Search the "Free Legal Resources" tab, or browse the Consumer Resources. Good luck.

Abatement is only possible in limited circumstances. Since you're on public assistance, the state is going to go after the father to reimburse the tax payers who have been providing money to support the child. So long as you're getting tax payer money, the state will continue to come after him to get those funds.

residential Parking problem
Just recently a truck with a trailer has begun parking on the other side of my driveway, making it difficult for me to come in and out of my driveway. I found the owner of the truck and ask him not to park there any more. Needless to say he told me that I don't own the street. So I called Maryland Police, and they cam e out and wrote him a ticket for parking in the wrong flow of traffic. The car is register 40 miles away from my home and is parking their over night everyday. The police informed me that he could park there along as his truck is park in the correct flow of traffic. Is there any other action that I can do to have this truck and trailer from parking in my commnity? Thanks,

Police can only enforce what laws exist, so as as long as he's parking on a public street, in an area that isn't otherwise restricted (such as "no parking" or parking blocking a fire hydrant), then you have no recourse as long as he is parking a property registered vehicle in a legal manner.
You can certainly approach your city or county government and bring a case as to why they may want to consider making the area a no parking zone or imposing some other restriction, but they'll generally want more of a reason than a single person's inconvenience (such as multiple neighbors being impacted, etc.)
