I have Durable Power of Attorney and control of my parents finances now. We are planning to sell their home that they have outgrown, and they can rent a house we are building for them. We are currently planning on putting the house in a trust. We may also look into them giving money to us when they sell the house (which we will keep in safe keeping if they need it later).
