safety problem in neighborhood
My son lives inNW Atlanta. He is a student and I am his only means of support. When he moved to Atlanta in June to attend school, we rented an apartment for him. He and his roommate have both been robbed at gunpoint in separte incidents in the last 2 weeks within blocks of their apartment. He is 4 months into a year's lease. I want to move him to a safer part of Atlanta. Does anyone know if we have any rights to break the lease?
I know it's not his landlord's fault as it has happened off the property, but I wonder if there is a precedent I might quote to the landlord to break the lease.
Thanks for any input. As you can imagine, I'm pretty freaked out (I'm in Florida) and I want to get them to a safer area before one of them is really hurt or worse.
