Hello all,
I am a member of a not for profit "educational" organization. It is of an adult consensual nature & follows all laws of the state of Florida.
I am on a committee entrusted with revising our bylaws & we have come to a point where we are looking at section "617.1602 Inspection of records by members.--" of the florida statutes.
http://www.flsenate.gov/Statutes/ind...1602#0617.1602
We are an organization that would like to keep its membership records private & not allow ANY other member of the organization to be privy to members names & personal records other than the recording secretary.
It seems to me after reading the above mentioned statute we are open to a member at large requesting to view such documents. Their purpose needs to be in line with the statute but is there any way we can put in our bylaws that under no circumstances reguardless of purpose will the membership records be turned over without court order?
Basically I would like to know if there is any way to get around this statute or if there is something to over ride this statute?
Thank you in advance....
