Default Repossessed boat

Hello,
My husband purchased a boat a couple years ago and made payments for about a year or so when he decided to call the bank and tell them to come get the boat as he could no longer afford to pay for it. They did and the boat was auctioned off. The bank wants us to pay the difference and we have been sending them some money. We would like to know what would happen if we stopped sending money. Can his wages be garnished or could we be sued or what? Do we have to hire an attorney to get out from under this boat before we drown. Any advice would be wonderful. Thank you.

Every state has different remedies for the collection of debt. I would suggest that you at least speak with an attorney to discuss your legal options. You may not have to hire one. You can locate an attorney through the attorney locator on Lawinfo's home page at http://www.lawinfo.com/. Some do offer free consultations.
