Default Religious Discrimination

My girlfriend got fired for her tattoees. They are of a religious nature, and Polynesian tattoo's. How does she prove this, and sue them for fring her, upon her employer seeing them for the first time?
I can provide any and all details.
Please help....

Unless she had an employment contract or collective bargaining agreement to the contrary, employers are allowed to fire for tatoos, because tatoos are not protected. Employers can fire for not liking her hair, her breath, or the music she listens to. There may be an issue if she's claiming that the NATURE of the firing was because of the religious message of the tatoos, but she'll only be able to prove that in court IF there are OTHER employees who have been allowed to work WITH tatoos. In other words, she'd have to prove the RELIGION aspect, as opposed to the TATOO aspect. Not all discrimination is illegal, and in this case, she's got an uphill battle to prove that it was a religious reason versus a tatoo reason. This is something that she really needs to discuss with an attorney in her state. She also needs to file for unemployment ASAP.

I agree with aardvarc on this one. Have you browsed through the information in LawInfo's Free Legal Resource Center to learn more about your issue yet? See: http://www.lawinfo.com/consumer.html and http://resources.lawinfo.com/en/index.html. You can certainly try to speak to a lawyer to determine what legal options may be available. In the meantime, you may be able to learn more on your own. Search the "Free Legal Resources" tab, or browse the Consumer Resources. Good luck.
