Real Estate (inspecting)
Hello 14 years ago we bought a summer home in Central Lake Michigan. This summer we were going to build an addition to our summer home. We gutted the inside to renovate and put a stairway in and then we find out we can't build. The foundation was checked to see how sturdy it was and we found out we don't have a foundation. How can this be? Is this not suppose to be in the Inspection requirements when someone sells a home? Shouldn't the foundation of all things be inspected? How can they just assume there is a foundation? We had to tear our house down and we are making plans to build a new home. I am heartbroken over this. I loved my home. Now instead of paying $20000 for an addition it's going to cost us at least $50000 to start building a new house. Don't we have any legal rights concerning this? I would appreciate any advice you can provide. Thanks so much Gale Miller
