Default pregnancy/hostile work enviornment

When I started my job I loved it. I became pregnant and told my manager so I could ask about health insurance. Her first response was "Really? Are you happy about that?" I am 30 years old! Why would she ask me that? She than said that maybe I should get a different job. I didn't and since then she has humiliated me and just made me generally miserable. She laughed when I asked about maternity clothes, since I wear a uniform. She announced in front of other employees and guests that I "had something going on with a male employee" because he and I were talking. (Which was humiliating because everyone there know I am pregnant and live with my boyfriend) He is the only other person there my age, just about every other employee is over 50 in my department. I am not allowed to take a break, even when I work 13 hour shifts, even though other people in my department get an hour long break every shift they work. I was also not allowed to go to my required fmla class even though everyone else got to go. Instead, I had to watch a dvd later and I needed to attend the class more than anyone else at the time so I could ask questions if necessary. I can't continue working there. Should I speak to HR? I have already told her I think she is treating me unfairly.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I can understand this situation at work is frustrating for you. You may want to start by reviewing your employee handbook and/or speaking with the HR department regarding the company's policies related to time off for pregnancy, etc. I suggest you speak to an attorney regarding your legal rights and the situation with your company. You can find more information about an attorney through the locator service on LawInfo's home page at: http://www.lawinfo.com/. Some do offer free consultations. Good luck!
