Power of Attorney in the Sale of Real Estate
I live in IN and we recently made an offer on a house. We made the offer on a Saturday evening with a deadline of Monday at 3 pm for a reply to the offer. A couple of hours after the offer (7:45 pm) I received a call from my agent saying the offer had been accepted and was signed by the sellers agent using poa (power of attorney). Based on this information I went ahead and paid for a home inspection on that was performed on Tuesday morning with the selling agent letting us in the home. Later Tuesday evening my agent called and said the selling agent said that the power of attorney that she signed was invalid and only good for signing closing documents on the home. I believe that I have valid contract because this is between the listing agent and the seller of the home. What recourse do I have???
