Default Possible consequences to this lessee

Hi, I am very concerned for my best friend. He is currently being threatened with court summons. Ive tried to sum up the situation to the best of my ability and would like to get an a idea on how harsh a judges ruling could be given the circumstances if it did goto court.

Signing a lease to a unemployed 20 year old, who then decides due to lack of funds to move out giving 30 days paid notice to the landlord whilest finding new tenants to full the residence.Clearly It was a mistake for the lessee to have signed with no disposable income, However please take into consideration the negligence on the lessors part in allowing this to happen. The lessor is now trying to aside from claiming rent which is Unpayable as the lessee is unemployed to claim garbage removal fees and pest control fees. When the tenant first moved into the residence no pest control was done by the lessor however now the lessors trying to collect payment on this. Please take into consideration this request of payment was placed two months after the lessee gave paid notice and since new tenants have been residing in the residence on a new lease.

He is also only in the country on a Zimbabwean passport to study. When signing the lease he did put his address of his grand parents house without there knowledge who reside within the country. In your opinion is he in deep trouble or a slap on the wrist. He relay would like to pay for all of this but he just doesn't have the means to.

Thanks,
Ryan.

Have you browsed through the information in LawInfo's Free Legal Resource Center to learn more about your issue yet? See: http://www.lawinfo.com/consumer.html and http://resources.lawinfo.com/en/index.html. You can certainly try to speak to a lawyer to determine what legal options may be available. In the meantime, you may be able to learn more on your own. Search the "Free Legal Resources" tab, or browse the Consumer Resources. Good luck.
