Petition to Partition/Partition sale

Could anyone give me some info on what this involves ? Example: Is it difficult ? Do I have to show good reason, and if so, what are good reasons for the court to order a partition sale ? What is the approximate cost (Attorney and court) This would be in the state of Maine.
