I lent my friend $2500. I'm in Arizona but from Missouri and I called my bank in Missouri to have the money wired to his bank which is also in Missouri. He said he would pay me back in a week by depositing the cash into my Missouri bank. It has been over a week and I have not received my money. I have tried calling his house and cell phone and leaving messages but he won't return my calls. I sent him instant messages online for him to call me also. He is 21 and currently lives at home with his parents and I'm 23 going to school in Arizona. We have been good friends for almost 5 years and he has always been a good friend otherwise I wouldn't have lent the money in the first place. His sudden change in behavior is a surprise. What rights do I have in trying to collect the money from him or his parents? Should I write him a letter take him to small claims court? What state laws does this fall under?
