Default Parents allowed to purchase alcohol at restaurant and let minor consume?

My boyfriend is attending a DUI class today and the lady in charge of the class actually said that a minor is permitted to consume alcohol inside their home if it has been given to them by their parents. She went on to say that if they are on vacation or even at a restaurant, and the parents order the alcohol for the minor, the minor can consume it as long as they are with the parents. She said this was legal, and I believe it would be very shady of a lady in charge of a DUI class to mislead the class. However, I am having a hard time believing this. Can anyone confirm this?

Providing alcohol to a minor, any minor (even your own kids), in any location (even at home), is a criminal violation. It can also trigger charges such as "contributing to the delinquency of a minor" AND can also result in civil liability should that minor injure themselves or someone else.

something happened the other day that i thought was interesting. it doesn't really have anything to do with your question, but it does go with the contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

i had a flat tire last week and had to call the sheriffs department to get help. they sent a deputy to help me. well he had cigarettes and i asked if i could bum one. i toldhim i was 18, and asked if he wanted to see my licsence, and he said no. after he handed me the cigarette, i asked now what if i wasn't really 18, wouldn't that be contributing to the delinquency of a minor? he said no, that i just wouldn't be old enough to buy them. for a police officer to say that struck me rather oddly because i always thought that by giving things to minors they weren't old enough to buy was contributing to the delinquency, but apparently not.

The lady gave improper information. It's illegal.
