my husband had 2 children who are living about 1100 miles away from us. Unfortunately he lost his job last year and we had to move out of state for the job he has right now. His ex-wife doesn't really want to work with him when it comes to being in contact with the children. They had it set up that he would call one week and they the other the children are 8 and 9. The first six months of this year it worked out great but now she things he is invading their privacy and gives him a hard time... She threw it in his face that maybe he should give up his rights and he doesn't have to pay anymore she doesn't need the money anyways (she has re-married) and they will have their privacy back. Last week my husband had his birthday and the children didn't call him. We don't blame them for it they are still too young but we believe it's her job to let them know and have them call him. We see the children only 2 weeks out of the year due to the distance and my husband doesn't have more time off. The children didn't want to come for Christmas this year either we don't know why... What can we do to cancel his rights and not having to pay anymore so we can all move on with our lives. The oldest one is already using his stepdad's name in school!!!
