My 16 year old son has been charged with 2 misdemeanor counts. 1 is "Obstructing Law Enforcement Officers" and the other is "Simple Assault". I am a father of 5 and have never been faced with a situation like this before. I will be hiring an attorney, but before i do, i would like to try to get any advice from other parents that have been faced with something similar to this.

I am not a parent that thinks my child can do no wrong, and he and I both feel that he is responsible for his actions. But as a parent I want to make sure that since this is his first offense and since he has no criminal past, that he does get fair justice with the least amount of damage. I would like to be able to discuss this issue in detail with someone who could point me in the right direction.

Hopefully they keep him in the juvenile system. You definitely do want to seek out the help of an attorney, someone who has experience with the juvenile system.
