My name is Ana Myers. Two years ago I was in this country illegaly. I met this american guy (now my husband) and later became pregnant. Since I didnt have any way in paying for the medical bills I was on medicaid. The medicaid was for emergencies only. Since I was illegal only emergencies were covered and all labor expences are covered under the emergency medicaid card. After I had my baby I received some bills from the hospital and the office of the anesthesiologist. I called the medicaid office and asked if I had to pay the bills I was receiving. They told me they were going to take of all the bills the Labor involved so I figured everything would be taken care of. Few months later I left the country with my family to try to make me legal. The whole proces took a year. Once I arrived the USA I received a bill from the anesthesiologist with a letter from the collection agency. So I called the collection agency to try to fix the problem. I also called medicaid ofiice to ask again if I had to pay this bill. They said they never received this bill. I told the collection agency this information and they said they would bill medicaid. They billed medicaid. Medicaid denided the bill because the name on the bill was not right. The middle initial was diferent and because the anesthesiologist or collection agency took too long to send the bill to medicaid. They have a year to bill so medicaid would pay. The collection agency told me they would try to fix the mane on the bill and send it in again. I was waiting for a response when I received a letter a notice I must report to small claims court. I must go on March 5th. Can someone help me and tell me what I can do? Is there any way I can receive a free consultation? Will I have to pay the bill plus expenses that the court will involve? I will really appreciate any help !
