New Social Security Number

hi..i applied for a new SSN several weeks ago and i am still waiting for that number in the mail..the reason for the delay was that the SS guys have to send my file to the immigration for verification..now i'm thinking of applying again in a different SSA office to where the SSA and BCIS are housed in 1 building will it have any effect on the fact that i have applied previously? thanks a lot
