i need to know what kind of evidence is needed to convict on a vehicle arson case.a warrent was servedan arrest made all on the basis of two statements from people the suspect knew.one has since recanted his story and admitted he lied to police but they are still going ahead with the charge.they have no motiveno eyewitnessesnothing.can they go to trial with just this?

They can go to trial. Sometimes they dont care if they have a case. What does your lawyer say?

contact an attorney and set a hearing date immediately. they can go to court over it. the fact that they have a witness is overcoming. Hire an attorney and plea out with hopefully no charge, breech of peace, destruction of property, arson I'm not certain is a felony so make sure plea to something that doesnt sound so bad or ask for probation or civil wrong. Get a good attorney.
