Default Need to know how to go about collecting rent from tennant of farmland

I called a tennant who normally pays me rent on a lot of farmland he rents from me everyyeard today and he said he wasnt paying a dime this year due to my horses roaming free on the land and destroying his soybean crop. I talked a neighbor last week and he said this gentleman didnt even farm my land last year that he subletted the land out (without even notifying me first) to another gentleman who farmed the land. To let you know a little background. My horses have roamed free on my land for the passed year including the land this gentleman rented from me. Before he planted this year he knew the horses were roaming free. He had not once came to me and complained or asked me about it telling me it was bothering him or the production of his crop. I kinda figured it would bother his production. He let weeds grow up in his crop this year that probably also hindered the growth of his crop. My problem is he didnt once complain, so how am I supposed to know he has a problem with it. He has rented from us for almost 10 years now and we have never had a problem getting rent from him. My neighbor(the one who told me of all the other info), told me the gentleman who rented from me has came down ill and is not farming anymore after this year. Im wondering does he think he is entitled not to pay me at all just because he isnt going to need the land anymore. I talked to him and informed him that he didnt mention it once to me. I also mentioned to him that he did gather the crop and did make a crop so if my horses did any damage to the crop then we should subtract an amount that was damaged. He hung and said he wasnt paying a dime. what should I do? What am i entitled to do?
I feel like since nothing was ever mentioned to me in ways of a complaint I should be entitled to all moneys. I want to be fair but I want to be paid also!.

Thanks

Have you browsed through the information in LawInfo's Free Legal Resource Center to learn more about your issue yet? See: http://www.lawinfo.com/consumer.html. You can certainly try to speak to a lawyer to determine what legal options may be available. In the meantime, you may be able to learn more on your own. Search the "Free Legal Resources" tab, or browse the Consumer Resources. Good luck.
