Default Need to help my father!

My father is in Mt St Prison now, because of an angry ex-daughter in law. He was accused of innapropriate touching of his grand daughter. I can't believe patting his grand daughter on the butt counts for years of prison time. Can someone help me and guide me to help get my father out of this mess.
He was sent to Missoula back in Oct. 07, now just sent to Mt St Prison a week ago. He is 65 years old.
His daughter,,,Tracie

It would be unfair to you and the victim to give advice as neither you nor us know all the details of the incident(s). I agree a pat on the butt probably does not meet criteria for sexual assault. that is why I speculate there is more to this

Accusations in and of themselves don't result in prison terms. There would have been a whole process of investigation, arraignment, trial, presentation of evidence or statements, a jury decision, etc. BEFORE that could happen. If there is some new evidence that the court didn't get on the first go around, or if your dad's attorney feels that there were procedural irregularities, then his attorney (or a new attorney who specializes in these types of cases) should be filing an appeal.

Here's some good info on what that means and how the appeals process works:

Hi sentiad. I can understand this is a frustrating situation for you. Did your father have an attorney? I'm wondering what exactly you mean by him being in prison because of an angry ex-daughter in law. Do you mean the accusations were false or inflated? Prison time for years sounds like a serious charge. You can certainly try to speak to a criminal defense attorney to discuss what options may be available to appeal the jail time. You can find one through the locator service on LawInfo's home page at: http://www.lawinfo.com/.
