Default Mortgage Company refuse payments

Hi

I am a 2 months behind on my mortgage plus I ow this months mortgage, my payments are just over 1000 a month, so the first of January I sent a payment of 500 a week later another payment of 500 and just thursday a payment of 1100.00, well today, saturday I received one of the checks for 500 back... so there is still 1600 worth of checks floating out there... the note with the first 500 that I sent said the mortgage company does not except partial payments and I need to send a payment for the full three months in a cashiers check or money order immediatly to prevent forclosure .... I find it amazing that the mortgage company can refuse a payment like this... what should I do? I have 2 payments I have tried to make to them... which would leave me owing the month of January... which I was planning to pay next month... can they really refuse payment then threaten legal action like this ?

thanks in advance for your help

Yes. They can foreclose if you are one day late. Have you browsed through the information in LawInfo's Free Legal Resource Center to learn more about your issue yet? See: http://www.lawinfo.com/consumer.html. You can certainly try to speak to a lawyer to determine what legal options may be available. In the meantime, you may be able to learn more on your own. Search the "Free Legal Resources" tab, or browse the Consumer Resources. Good luck.
