Default Misdiagnosis

7 years ago I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Since then I have been repeatedly medicated, have undergone ECT treatments and have run great risks of loosing my two daughters to the system. Even though I made many pleas with doctors that the medication regimen that they continuously placed me on was not working, they continued with the same regimens. Last year, I stopped taking my medications while still under medical supervision for three months without telling the medical team my intentions. During those three months, Doctors and Nurses continued to report on my progress. After the three months was over, I told them that I stopped my medication. They reported me to social services at this time stating that I had a very serious mental health problem and that they were concerned for the welfare of my children. At this time, I left that medical facility and found a medical facility that would listen. They found that I instead suffer from Adult ADHD which is similar to Bipolar but cannot be treated with the same medications. Do I have a case against the other facility?

Medical malpractice is very complex. Have you browsed through the information in LawInfo's Free Legal Resource Center to learn more about your issue yet? See: http://www.lawinfo.com/consumer.html. You should certainly try to speak to a lawyer to determine what legal options may be available. In the meantime, you may be able to learn more on your own. Search the "Free Legal Resources" tab, or browse the Consumer Resources. Good luck.
