My husbands sister is a 28 year old low mentally functioning mother of 6 month old twins. She fell into the wrong crowd and met a guy in a homeless shelter whom she lived with for a while. She got pregnant with twins and they broke up when she was still pregnant. She had the babies 2 months early and they were hospitalized until they were ready to go home. Before they were discharged CPS did a home visit of where my sister-in-law was staying with my husbands parents. As long as she lives with them things are hard but okay. My mother-in-law stays home and takes care of the babies during the day. However the babies mother is now starting to hang out with the wrong crowd again and has threatened to leave my in-laws house and take the babies with her. I love her but truly believe she is not mentally capable of taking care of twin girls. Also the men she hangs out with have been in jail for various reasons (one I think may be a sexual offender). I'm scared too death that she will leave my inlaws and take those babies! She doesn't even know how to mix baby cereal much less know how to manage with 2 babies by herself. What can we do??
