mandatory internal whistleblowing?
My father's company has distributed notebooks to all employees so that they could report any minor wrongdoings of their fellow employees. This company employs blue collar workers in an industrial setting. It has been reported they are trying to eliminate as many employees as possible--especially the older ones in unions. Recently, they have instituted a rule, that three minor violations over the course of employment would result in dismissal. Does anyone know if it is legal for an employer to persuade/encourage/push reporting wrongdoings of fellow coworkers? It is ethically unsound, but I am unsure about the law. Thank you for your help.
