Default letters/journals found in attic

I posted this before but can't find it anywheres. so gonna try again. I apologize if I am posting this in the wrong thread. please forgive me if I am.

my father died last year and after he passed away, his wife, found letters/journals that he had kept, in the attic. They were letters that my father wrote to my mother every day after she died in 1989 until he remarried in 1992. she quickly made plans with my sister, to have the journals edited--editing me and my family out of them--and taking them to a publisher in NC to have them published into a book. until recently, I knew nothing of the journals or that they were being made into a book. Since finding out, I have wrote letters, to both step mom and sister, asking to read the letters, asking for copies of the letters/journals that my father wrote to my mother. I have been refused. I was told that I will never be allowed to read them or see them. I don't care that I'm not in the book---its about me getting to read what my father wrote to my mother. I feel that I have that right. step mom says she went to a lawyer and he said that they're hers. my father left everything to her. so is that the catch, because they're hers, she doesn't have to let me see them? my father wrote those love letters/journals to my mother. don't I have a right to read them? This situation has gotten pretty ugly but I'll spare you the 'he said/she said' parts of it. It has been documented though that after I was taken out of the journals, it was said on a public website, that only the people my father truly loved, are in the book. (after they had me removed)

If I were to get a lawyer, what type of lawyer would I need? theres so many and I don't know what catagory this would fall under. thanks much, shirley
p.s. the house and journals are in Georgia. I live in Tennessee.

As hard as this may be to hear, they are right, if everything was left to the wife, they are her's to do with what she wants. You certainly can speak with an attorney. Just talk to a general practitioner.

It is hard to hear, but thanks so much for taking the time to answer. I really appreciate it!
