Default jurisdiction issue..

Little bit of a back story.. I was born and raised in Illinois. i had my daughter in 2007. her dad was never in the picture. he was in the military so it was hard to locate him. i moved to arizona in 2010 with my boyfriend. i lived in arizona until 2011 and had to go back to illinois for multiple family issues. i planned on being gone for 3 months but i was gone for 7.. during the time i was there, i was able to locate her father and serve him with the paperwork i had filed in arizona for paternity, child support, and custody. he then decided to take the paternity test willingly. we proved him to be the father and i let him see her 3 times. he was aware i planned on moving back to arizona but not sure when. i moved back 2 days ago and now hes telling me he filed for joint custody in illinois and illinois has jurisdiction over my daughter. is that true? my case is still open in arizona and i never relocated to illinois.. i was there to be with my family temporarily.

Have you browsed through the information in LawInfo's Free Legal Resource Center to learn more about your issue yet? See: http://www.lawinfo.com/consumer.html and http://resources.lawinfo.com/en/index.html. You can certainly try to speak to a lawyer to determine what legal options may be available. In the meantime, you may be able to learn more on your own. Search the "Free Legal Resources" tab, or browse the Consumer Resources. Good luck.
