Joint Managing Conservator - Who Decides?
I am the primary JMC of a preschool daughter whose father lives over 200 miles away (he moved). He sees her at least once a month for several nights at a time. Our daughter is in private preschool and per her teachers she is ready for public kindergarten next fall - she is very bright. Her father has hinted that he thinks she should be held back (he has expectations not in line with her age/maturity). Her teacher says it would be a big mistake to hold her back and I am inclined to go along with the teachers. If my ex can't be convinced, I feel I need to do what is best for our daughter and enroll her in public kindergarten. Does my role as primary JMC give me permission to make this decision without her father's blessing if it comes to that? I know I have to discuss this issue with him but am leary of his reaction and what he might try to do if he does not get his way. Can you provide me with some direction on this?
