Jeweler refuses to return jewelry
I recently contacted a jeweler in Manhattan NY that I did business with six years ago. I wanted to trade a pair of diamond stud earrings for a larger pair. The jeweler arranged to have my earrings picked up in Michigan and delivered to his store the following day by UPS (I have delivery confirmation). Approximately three weeks later I sent the jeweler a registered letter to inform him that I wanted to postpone the purchase of larger earrings and to send my jewelry back. Ten days later I had not received my jewelry. I sent a copy of the letter by fax to ask what the problem was. I did not receive a response. A few days later I contacted the jeweler by phone to express my concern. He told me he would return my jewelry. A week has passed since our conversation and I still do not have my jewelry. I am thinking about hiring a lawyer in Manhattan. What should I do next? Do I have a case?
