Default help with child endangerment law

I am in need of some advise and knowledge of the law. I am a civilian and had to go on post for a friend. My son became ill in middle of the other childs lessons so I took him out to my car. I saw the child come to see me and I ran the child back into their lesson. During that time someone called the police stating that my child was left unattended for over ten minutes. I was gone for under one minute. I had the keys with me and the window was cracked for air. I understand that the law is a child must not be left unattended under the age of 9. I have never done this before and had no intentions of doing this. I am very embarrassed of the situation. I have no prior offenses. I am concerned because it was on a federal instillation. I also am concerned because my children are my number one priority and I do not want to loose them. I do not know what child endangerment is in this case and how it will affect me and my children. What should I do to prepare for the hearing and what is the normal consequence for this mistake? I hope there is something I can do to correct this. Please help

I can understand that this is a frustrating and stressful situation for you. I would suggest that you post this under family law and criminal law as well to get a better response. I would also suggest that you speak with an attorney immediately to discuss your legal options. You can locate one through the attorney locator on Lawinfo's home page at http://www.lawinfo.com/. Some do offer free consultations.

Thank you, We are working on finding one locally. We have a few friends at church who practice family law but at the same time, we live in a very small town and would like all things possible to keep this under raps for now. I have not gotten the summons for court yet, is it still good to go ahead and consult one before knowing anything?

Just to put you at ease, an attorney cannot discuss it with anyone by law. I would suggest that you consult with one immediately.
