Angry HAMP or NO HAMP that is the question

Homeq Servicing told us that if we wanted help from for our Mortgage to seek the HAMP (Home Affordabilty Modification Program) So we applied. Homeq servicing said what ever you do DON'T miss a mortgage payment. Do not default. So we made our payments, and did not skip any payments. The HAMP program normally takes between 30-60 days depending on your Loan institute. Well, 90 days later I here from my Loan Istitute and they said that we had been denied. I couldn't believe it, because we gave them every document they requested, made every payment llike they requested, basically everything Homeq Servicing asked us to do, we did. I asked why we didn't get the help that we needed. Here is the answer. " We did not show that we were in IMMINENT DEFAULT! that we were facing a financial hardship. Which we were, but we busted our butts to pay our mortgage. We went without, other things were late. But we paid our Mortgage!!!! So then, Homeq servicing said they would see if we qualify for their in-home program to lower our mortgage. Guess what, we didn't qualify for that either... WHY? We weren't in IMMINENT DEFAULT!
Can you believe it? Where do I go from here?? Needing help on this one, Our Mortgage is going up almost $100.00 a month because of a increase in escrows. I am really beside myself. Please someone tell me where to turn to next!!! HOMEQ SERVICING STINKS!!!!!

Have you browsed through the information in LawInfo's Free Legal Resource Center to learn more about your issue yet? See: http://www.lawinfo.com/consumer.html. You can certainly try to speak to a lawyer to determine what legal options may be available. In the meantime, you may be able to learn more on your own. Search the "Free Legal Resources" tab, or browse the Consumer Resources. Good luck.
