hello back in the year 2002 i got arrested spent 4 hrs in jail went to court and pled no contest to a misdemeanor and had to pay a fine of five hundred dollars. i'm a green card holder my green card will expire in about ten months from now i would like to apply for U.S. citizenship before my green card expires. will immigration deny my application for citizenship because of my misdemeanor and if so will i be able to renew my green card? i would trully appreciate your response i have been living in the U.S. for almost ten years now this is where my future is i don't want to be deported. much aloha!!!

If charges with a misdemeanor it might problem, it depends, what is the sentenced and how long is that. If the sentenced less than one year, you may get citizenship. And you need good lawyer too. Couple of lawyers says less than one years sentenced is not a problem as my experience. Best of luck
