Gaining control of my inheritance
Hi. I had a question concerning an inheritance I thought I'd be receiving on my 21st birthday. My great aunt passed away 3 or 4 years ago and left a small inheritance to each member of my family. Until a little over a month ago, we had been led to believe that there was either an attorney or a financial advisor who was in charge of the estate. About two years ago my grandmother called to say that she had added some of her own money to my account or something and that the money I was to receive was triple the amount promised to either of my siblings. I discovered that I am pregnant in mid July, aprox. a month before my 21st birthday and the day I was supposed to receive the promised money. A lot of my reasons for deciding to keep the baby was based on a false promise of being financially stable. A week after discovering my pregnancy, we called the family attorney to find out more about the procedure involved in receiving the inheritance, only to find out that my grandmother is, in fact, the executive of the estate. When she called to tell me that I was magically receiving triple the amount she had mistakenly read the amount that was to be split up between my siblings and assumed it was mine. In actuality, when she changed any thing about my account, she changed the age I was to receive my portion of the money to 35 and neglected to tell any one because she her self was confused about what changes she'd made. Now I really want to have a child and the money I'd been promised is not available to me at all. With that money I would have been able to start a trust fund for the baby, invest in a small business, find a decent place to raise a child, and kept myself afloat financially until I could find a job. Now, I am 11 weeks pregnant with no where to live and I am struggling on a daily basis. I don't feel that my grandmother is of sound mind to have control over my money based on my own experience with her and her doctor's warnings of dementia. Is there any legal action I can take to gain control of my money in the near future?
