Default Fired while pregnant

I was fired last October while I was pregnant. I was fired because they stated that I was checking out my own family members at my own register and allowing other peoples to use my discount card. The other things that I was fired for that they say I wasn't allowed to keep any coupons printed at the register for myself. Therefore let me explain my side of the story.

I was never told that I couldn't keep the coupons that are printed at the register if customers refused to not take it. I was never told that my discount card was for me, myself and I only. However, I will admitted that I shouldn't have check out my family members at my own register. I have been wanting to find an answer to my question. Was it wrong for them to fired me while I was pregnant? Another things, I wasn't properly trained and the Human resource Manager that were having use taking those tests, always just told us what to do to just passed the required tests. By the way, she also was fired and from my knowledge she was fired for that. It was way before I was fired. May someone please answer my question(s) for me please?

In Ca you are considered an employee "at will". This means either the employee or employer may terminate relationship at any time with or without cause or warning. The exceptions are if said termination violates law, cba or, employment contract

In general, most employees are considered at-will and can be terminated immediately for any reason, or no reason at all, unless there is a written employment contract in place specifying that the employee can only be terminated for cause. Sometimes "cause" is defined, sometimes not, but generally would include circumstances such as failure to meet the job qualifications, misconduct, etc. However, it is illegal to deny employment on the basis of a protected class (like race, gender, religious beliefs, etc.)

I suggest you contact an attorney to determine your legal options. You can find an attorney through the locator service on LawInfo’s home page at: http://www.lawinfo.com/.
