Default Fired because the boss is protecting her son

I was fired because the boss is protecting her son. 2 yrs ago my daughter 17 yrs and her cousin 21 yrs of age left and went to his house with friends. I knew she went and I trusted him 100% because I knew he was a good kid. 2 yrs later I find out that he got my daughter drunk and gave her pills and took advantage of her. I found out that his mom, my boss knew about this and has knowen about it for sometime now and did not tell me about it. When I confronted her with it, she gave me a smart remark back for her answer. Then is turned into an argument and she fired me. We was not even at work, we was in the front yard of my house. Can she legally fire me for something her son did ?

In 49 of the 50 states (Montana only one that is not) you are an employee "at will" meaning you can be fired at any time for any o rno real reason law as it does not violate law, cba or, employee contract. I dont see any of those applying in your case, sorry. However if you want revenge perhaps filing criminbal charges on the son would take some of the sting out

In general, most employees are considered at-will and can be terminated immediately for any reason, or no reason at all, unless there is a written employment contract in place specifying that the employee can only be terminated for cause. Sometimes "cause" is defined, sometimes not, but generally would include circumstances such as failure to meet the job qualifications, misconduct, etc. However, it is illegal to deny employment on the basis of a protected class (like race, gender, religious beliefs, etc.)

I suggest you contact an attorney to determine your legal options. You can find an attorney through the locator service on LawInfo’s home page at: http://www.lawinfo.com/.
