fire liability question
If my 19 year old daughter, who is a full time college student in Kansas, gets an apartment with two friends, will she be required to have a guarantor sign on her lease? If so, does being a guarantor always include more than just being responsible for making sure the rent is paid? Will the guarantor be responsible for all three girls' rent?
If my daugher has renter's insurance, will that cover fire? Consider this: the girls are home and have a lit candle. The candle glass breaks and the fire spreads to burn the whole complex. Would renter's insurance cover?
I cannot get a straight answer from insurance people as to whether or not the fire case would be covered. They just say the loss of her stereo and clothes, etc. would be covered. I think those losses are of small concern compared to the liability of the replacement of an apartment complex.
If you can help, I would appreciate it.
