Unhappy Father passes How do I find out what I am rightfully entitled to

My father recently passed away at home. He was seen by a medical doctor same day with complaints of confusion. My sister and I had a disagreement. I live out of state and my father paid rent living in the guest apt above her home. Knowing my father he would of had his arrangements made. What I gathered from her by the way who is well of in comparison to me who would of had to borrow the money to go up north to attend his funeral. That he had 12,000 in bank, funeral paid up to 8,000. She already got his jewelry and earlier that month when they diagnosed my father with alzheimers she took his car and gave it to her son. She then proclaims that she would have to hide that she paid for my flight expense to her husband. I wanted my father to have an autopsy. They took him straight from the apt to the funeral home by ambulance according to her. ( i assumed if someone dies not in under a physicians care that an automatic autopsy would be performed) especially it was so sudden. His health was pretty well considering his age. He was found at the kitchen table. He died the same night at home after seeking medical attention. She also stated she was going to bury him with our mother who was divorced by him because we had one more burial plot in our family plot with her so she did not have to pay additional expenses. Does any one have advice on how and where I begin handing this situation. How can I get documentation and review his will if he has one. Thank-you

I can understand that this is a frustrating situation for you. I would suggest that you post this under estate planning. I would also suggest that you speak with an attorney to discuss your legal options. You can locate one through the attorney locator on Lawinfo's home page at http://www.lawinfo.com/. Some do offer free consultations.
