Default F-1

Hi I'm an international student with an F-1 visa however I'm getting out of school due to various reasons.Hoever me and my girlfriend still want to stay together and decided to get married. After I'm out of school how long do you think I can stay in US and get married and when we do do I need to get back to my home country or can I stay here and do the paper work for permanent residecy work authorization etc. Please advise.
