My green card got denied because l went back to Brazil in mid 2001 after l was already out of status. l was able to come back into the country 8 months later with the same visa. If l marry my fiance now, am l going to be able to get my green card? Is there any other option for me? I am an american U.S born citizen. My wife was here previously on a J-1 visa with a 2 year home residency requirement which she is currently fulfilling now as we speak in her home country. We have a valid MA marriage license and a pending I-130. She has a S.S number from when she previously lived here. Am I allowed to claim her on my taxes since we have a valid marriage license and she has a social security number? I have a interview with my local immigration office coming up and I need to provide as much evidence as possible that our marriage is legitimate.
