The physicans assistant at my doctors office contacted my employer and informed them of the medication that I was being prescribed. I DID NOT give my consent nor did I sign any consent forms for them to do so. I was unaware that this had taken place until my employer informed me. I have spoken to the physicans asst. and she has admitted doing so. Is this legal? Is this a violation of the HIPPA laws? If so, do I need to seek an attorney that practices medical malpractice law or would it fall in to a different catagory?
