Default estate

My lawyer brother is executer of estate. It has been going on for 2 years now and still not done. Is there a time limit before the state of Kansas can take over. There was no will so we named the lawyer in family to handle it.Is he supposed to let the rest of us how much is in the bank accounts. He has told no one.

Default car

I went to Kansas from Arizona to pick up car that was part of estate then my lawer brother said he is selling it to strangers instead of me after he said I could have it. Shouldn`t the heirs have the first choice of things in estate?

I am not an attorney - I am a real estate broker in Kansas... that said - I do see a lot - A LOT - of probate cases come to my desk. There are often times a lot of things going on that is hard to explain - and some times a lot of things that look like a deadlock on how to divy up - but bottom line is that if nothing is moved in one direction or another - it will stay that way... I have seen it all too often where executors take advantage of their position... charging for their duties...

You should be able to get a local attorney to help you find out what was filed at the court house as far as assets and such. Then make contact with the judge to ask for intervention of some sort...

I have helped a lot of families in disputes related to real property - homes and business assets - by simply getting an offer together for them and getting the heirs to agree to get "something" rather than let it go on like this forever...

If you want to PM me or call me - I might be able to refer you to a friend or two in the court house or at least a number you can call for public records...

How many are there to split your estate? Was it estate of parents?
